A real house phone, without a phone company attached

A home number the whole household shares, that rings actual phones on shelves and walls, still makes sense: for kids too young for cell phones, for grandparents, for the home office, for not handing your cell number to every form that asks. What stopped making sense is paying a phone company $50 a month for it.

Any area code, live in minutes

Pick the area code you want at signup, local to you or local to the people who'll call you, and the number works immediately. The adapter arrives in a few days; the softphone app and voicemail work day one.

Works with the phones you own

The adapter we ship has a standard phone jack. Corded, cordless, the multi-handset base in the kitchen: plug it in and everything rings like it always did. If you can plug in a lamp, you're qualified.

No bundle hostage-taking

You don't need our internet, our TV package, or our streaming add-on, because we don't have any. It's phone service over the internet you already pay for, and $11.99 is the entire bill.

Three steps, none of them involve a technician visit

1

Sign up and pick your number

Choose a brand-new number in any US or Canadian area code, live in minutes, or tell us the number you want to bring and we'll port it in free. Signing up takes about five minutes online, or call and we'll do it with you.

2

We ship the adapter

It arrives in a few days, costs you nothing extra, and requires no tools. In the meantime your number already works: voicemail is on, and calls can ring the free app on your cell.

3

Plug in and dial

Router on one side, your phone on the other, wait for the light, pick up the handset. Dial tone. That's the whole installation, and if anything's confusing, a real person answers at (855) 801-2441, 24/7.

Questions worth asking before you sign up

How fast is a new number actually live?

Minutes. You pick the area code during signup, we assign the number, and it can receive calls immediately: voicemail and the mobile app work right away, and your physical phones join in when the adapter arrives a few days later.

Can I pick any area code?

Any available US or Canadian area code, whether or not you live there. Plenty of people pick the area code their family dials most, so calls look local to the folks doing the calling.

What internet do I need?

Whatever you already have. Cable, fiber, DSL, fixed wireless, or satellite all work; a phone call uses less bandwidth than a single low-quality video stream. There's no special tier to buy and we are not secretly selling you internet.

Do I need to buy a phone or equipment?

No. The adapter ships as part of the service and works with any standard phone. If you don't own a phone yet, any $15 cordless from a big-box store plugs right in; we're happy to recommend one if you call. (In Canada, where adapter shipping isn't available yet, any off-the-shelf adapter does the same job — see the Canada question below.)

I'm in Canada — does this work for me?

Yes. We serve Canada as well as the US: sign up with a Canadian address, pick a Canadian (or US) number, and 9-1-1 registration works the same way. One honest caveat: we currently ship adapters to US addresses only, so Canadian customers pair the service with their own standard phone adapter — any off-the-shelf ATA works, and we'll happily recommend one — or use the mobile app. Unlimited calling covers both countries either way, and prices are in USD.

Does 911 work?

Yes. E911 is included, and we register your home address at signup so dispatchers see where you're calling from. One honest caveat: because the service runs over your internet, the phone won't work during a power or internet outage, including for 911, so keep a mobile phone charged as backup — and set it as your failover number: automatic failover is included, so incoming calls forward to your cell on their own whenever the adapter is offline. Outgoing calls, including 911, still need power and internet. Full details are in our 911 disclosure.

Is there a contract?

No. $11.99 a month, month to month, cancel anytime. And the number you pick is yours: if you ever leave, it ports out to your next provider free.

Pick a number. Plug in a box. Done.

$11.99 a month flat, adapter included, unlimited US & Canada calling. Sign up in five minutes, or call and a real person will set you up start to finish.
